In June of 1991, Jimbo and Jack Conner broke ground on what would become a landmark project in East Tennessee’s tourism landscape, River Plantation RV Resort in Sevierville. With a vision to bring large-scale outdoor hospitality to the Smoky Mountains, the Conners began with 117 RV sites and a plan to create a destination-style resort that would set the standard for RV travel in Sevier County.
Exactly one year later, on June 20, 1992, River Plantation RV Resort officially opened its doors. Over the years, the property expanded significantly, growing to 306 RV sites and adding an array of features that transformed the resort into a full-service outdoor vacation destination.
As the first RV resort of its size in Sevier County, River Plantation broke new ground in terms of both capacity and quality. It quickly became a favorite for travelers seeking more than a campground, offering a true resort experience in the heart of the Smokies.
In 2018, recognizing the resort’s exceptional performance and long-term value, Conner & Co. brokered a multi-million-dollar sale of River Plantation to a national franchise, marking one of the most significant outdoor hospitality sales in the region at that time.
Today, River Plantation RV Resort remains one of the largest and most established RV resorts in the Smoky Mountains, a testament to the Conner family’s foresight, dedication, and leadership in shaping the outdoor lodging industry in East Tennessee.
